Age really is just a number…
A new trend of silver haired celebrators is taking over the streets of Detroit this summer. Well, wanna-be silver-haired celebrators at least.
No, that’s not actually your nana dancing to the latest hits while out on our party bikes. It’s actually a group of people participating in a new trend of dressing up like octogenarians before they go out on the town.
The Michigan Pedaler has hosted a few of these rides this year — including the one seen in the picture. Sporting walkers, canes, wigs and more, these partygoers come prepared. And while these faux seniors may act like it takes a little while longer to cross the street, they still can party like its 1955!
Brian Diskin, one of the Michigan Pedaler’s ace drivers, hosted one such group. He admitted when he saw the group preparing for the ride, he was somewhat hoping it wouldn’t be his assigned ride. Once the ride started and the shenanigans ensued, he quickly flipped his opinion. “The group of grannies was greeted with big smiles – and the occasional double take — a laugh a minute, ” he said. Diskin explained that driving the bike often causes people to strain their necks as he drives by but watching people appearing to be so old yet listening to bumping, modern music while busting a move or two while pedaling brought instant reactions throughout the two hours.
Regardless of your actual age, The Michigan Pedaler is your choice for party bike tours whether you are coming from the nursing home or the latest rave party – and everything in between.
